Half Guard Sweep:

  1. You are in half guard and on your side
  2. Opponent is putting pressure on your arms
  3. Shoot out your higher arm and wrap around into a kimura grip
  4. Scoot down closer to opponent’s stomach
  5. Finish kimura

Alterantive: Opponent tucks arm by their stomach/waist and you can’t wrestle it away for the finish (or they are grabbing their belt in Gi)

  1. Snake out a bit and hook your leg on the inside of their leg
  2. Get on your back
  3. Kick up with the hooked leg as if you are doing a butterfly sweep
  4. Finish the Kimura as opponent is on their side and you are on top of them (North South Kimura)

Half Guard to Side Control line

  1. Push opponent that is leaning on you so they fall forward and you get on the outside of their underhook
  2. Grab their far leg under the knee with one hand
  3. With the other hand, going around the back/under their butt grab their toes of the same foot
  4. Push their toes to their hamstrings
  5. Change Hooks by having the leg across the half guard releasing and the other leg stepping over and pulling that leg very far back
  6. Scissor your legs so the leg that is no longer hooking (but was initially, you just freed it) be behind you and you’ll be able to get on that knee
  7. Get on your knee, push forwards, and use your hand on the knee to do a knee pick (lift their knee while pushing)
  8. Establish side control
