Mount Escape to Half Guard:

Alternative: Opponent Grapevines you (opponent is mounted and hooks both your legs)

  1. Kick your leg to the side and get your leg that you kick out is under opponent’s foot

Alternative: Opponent crosses ankles

  1. Stick out legs to feel out which side is higher, you the cross foot to push off the higher side foot off and slide your leg down off your ankle
  2. Do elbow knee escape and get your knee at least under opponent’s foot
  3. Opponent puts full weight on their knee so you can’t connect your knee and elbow (opponent in a three quarters mount)
  4. Using your other foot trap opponent’s foot in a triangle
  5. Scoop hips (in a shovel like fashion) under opponent’s knee
  6. Clear knee and get half guard (other guards options like full/ open guard sometimes)
