Cross Grip Armbar:
- Cross grip opponent’s lapel and cuff, cuff grip should be pulled very far back as if you were pulling back your fist for a punch
- Get opponent’s arm past your hips
- Shoot up and establish high guard (foot along opponent’s back should be the one that is over shoulder you moved past your hips)
- If your high guard is tight enough, you can pull down on the arm your trapped and bridge to armbar them there
Alternative: Should lock type of arm submission
- Turn yourself to the side slightly
- with one hand pulling trapped arm towards your hips, and one hand pushing trapped arm towards your hips bridge
Alternative: Reverse Armbar
- If the non trapped arm is available, wrap your arm around it (elbow to elbow) and trap it against your head as if you’re answering a telephone
- Apply Pressure to your elbow
Alternative: Normal Armbar
- Using the lapel as a frame, push their face away and swing your leg around for the armbar
